Ingredients

  • 14 grams Decarbed cannabis flower See notes on decarbing cannabis flower
  • 1 cup butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup water

Equipment

  • 1 Medium saucepan
  • 1 Mixing spoon
  • 1 Mason jar with lead
  • 1 Cheese cloth

Method

  1. Melt the butter
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat, adding a cup of water and stirring occasionally to prevent the butter from burning.
  2. Add your decarbed cannabis
Stir the ground and decarbed plant material into the melted butter, ensuring the mixture is well combined.
  3. Simmer low and slow
Let the mixture simmer on the lowest possible heat for 2 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally. Keep an eye on the heat—don’t let it boil over! Depending on the temperature, time length, and rate of evaporation, you may need to add more water during the process.
  4. Strain the butter
Line a strainer with cheesecloth and place it over a bowl or mason jar. Slowly pour the butter mixture through the cheesecloth, allowing the liquid to pass through while catching the plant material.
  5. Cool and store
Let the strained butter cool to room temperature, then transfer it to the fridge to solidify. Tada—you’re ready to infuse your next meal or sweet treat!
