To decarb your cannabis, preheat your oven to 245°F. Grind your cannabis flowers into small, even pieces. Spread it on your baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring once halfway through. This activates the THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids so they can infuse into the honey.
If you don’t have a double boiler, fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and place a heat-safe bowl or second pot on top to create a double boiler. Keep the heat low, maintaining a gentle simmer.
Add your raw honey to the top bowl, then slowly stir add the decarbed cannabis while stirring. Use about 1 gram of flower for 1 cup of honey as a starting ratio, and adjust based on your desired potency.
Let the mixture warm over low heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Keep the temperature below 200°F to avoid degrading the cannabinoids or burning the honey.
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Pour through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer into a clean glass jar. Squeeze or press gently to extract all the honey; just be careful not to wring the cheesecloth too hard, or you’ll get plant matter in your final product.
Seal the jar, label it with the date and strain, and store it in a cool, dark place. Your weed-infused honey is now ready to use in tea, on toast, or by the spoonful. As always, we recommend starting small and waiting before taking more.
