Discover The First Music Festival To Create Its Own Cannabis Strain

Northern Nights Music Festival has unveiled its phase one lineup for its 10th anniversary, taking place from July 14-16 in Northern California’s iconic Redwood Forest. The festival is known for its eclectic music lineup, top-tier cannabis and wellness programming, and mesmerizing natural landscapes, making it one of North America’s most unique boutique festival experiences.

The festival’s phase one lineup offers something for all fans of electronic music and beyond, with performances by live multi-instrumentalist duo Big Gigantic, bass music icon G Jones, GRAMMY-winning producer Mura Masa, multi-genre producer TOKiMONSTA, and house hitmaker Dr. Fresch.

Northern Nights has consistently been a pioneer in the cannabis industry. In 2019, it became the first music festival to have legal onsite cannabis sales and consumption. In 2022, it continued breaking boundaries by becoming the first music festival to have dispensaries located at stages and multiple on-site dispensaries in both Humboldt and Mendocino counties.

For its 10th anniversary in 2023, Northern Nights will take another groundbreaking step by becoming the first music festival to create its own in-house cannabis strain. The festival has spent years pheno-hunting for the best cannabis qualities and will now offer seeds and samples of its custom creation at the event’s farmers market. This new “Northern Nights” strain is produced in collaboration with the world-renowned breeder Humboldt Seed Company, demonstrating the festival’s commitment to revolutionizing cannabis culture in a music festival format while supporting local curators.

The Tree Lounge cannabis consumption area remains an integral part of the Northern Nights experience, hosting premier cannabis brands, medicated experiences, bespoke yoga and wellness programming, and more. This year, the Tree Lounge will have a new, central location within the festival footprint to further highlight this unparalleled experience.

Set against the backdrop of Cook’s Valley Campground, the festival offers a serene environment for fans to discover new artists and enjoy performances from electronic music’s freshest names. The festival grounds feature a river for attendees to float or swim in by day, the world’s largest Redwood grove campground, and ample space to explore the great outdoors.
