California State Fair exhibit gives out cannabis seeds for a penny

Scoring free samples is a time-honored California State Fair ritual, but this year, one giveaway is digging up more than good vibes.

At the California Cannabis Experience, adults can walk away with a packet of cannabis seeds, ready to kickstart their own home grow adventure.

“We’ve already given away thousands of seeds,” said Embarc dispensary co-founder Dustin Moore. “Under California law, we have to sell them for a penny to be compliant.”

Organizers anticipate giving out 15,000 cannabis seeds sourced from Northern California’s renowned Humboldt Seed Company during this year’s fair.
